Montenegro is the first Covid-19 free country
After around a two-month fight with the Covid-19 virus, Montenegro announced it no longer has any active Covid-19 cases. Furthermore, the minister of health, Kenan Hrapovic, officially announced the end of the Covid-19 epidemic in Montenegro. The country was also the very last European country to confirm the first Covid-19 case (March 17th). Now Montenegro has a unique opportunity in being recognized as the first ‘corona-free’ destination in Europe.
The airports of Tivat and Podgorica are officially open from June 1st for commercial flights. Citizens of countries where the rate of active coronavirus cases is less than 25 per 100,000 are allowed to enter the country.
But apart from being ‘corona free’, what truly defines Montenegro as a unique destination? Perhaps its historical and cultural heritage. Perhaps the diverse wild nature and incredible scenery… That could be some of the reasons that make this country exceptional. Another could be its medieval towns or various beaches on its Adriatic coast. Places like Herceg Novi, Mamula, Perast. Or the islands Our Lady of the Rock and Saint George.
